SOFTBALL: North holds off Mansfield; KP earns tourney berth

NORTH ATTLEBORO - Brianne Dusel went 2-for-3 with three RBI as the North Attleboro High softball team built a large lead and then held on to beat Mansfield, 6-4, in a Hockomock League game on Thursday afternoon.

Kayleigh Chabot was superb on the pitching mound for North, blanking the Hornets through the first six innings. Chabot walked just two Hornets, notching her third victory (also over Attleboro and Mansfield) in three outings.

North belted eight hits off Mansfield hurler Rebecca Levine. The Hornets scored all four of their runs in the seventh inning.

North Attleboro (7-4, 6-3) entertains King Philip today, while Mansfield (7-4, 6-3) travels to Franklin.

The Bombardiers just couldn't crank out a timely hit in falling to Bridgewater-Raynham in an Old Colony League game.

Bombardier pitcher Devin Azulay yielded a pair of runs on three hits in the second inning to the Trojans and then blanked B-R through the final five frames, retiring the side in order in the first, fourth and fifth innings.

The Bombardiers (3-6, 2-2) visit Somerset today.

Hopkinton 13, Norton 3

NORTON - The visiting Hillers put together five singles for four runs in the first inning and never looked back in this Tri-Valley League contest.

Kayla Crugnale had two of Norton's six hits and Alicia Scanlan stroked a run-producing single.

Bishop Feehan 5, Durfee 0

FALL RIVER - Maryssa Allen pitched a four-hitter and issued just one walk as the Shamrocks scored a very good victory in Fall River in the non-league game against the Hilltoppers.
