The sophomore midfielder, a first-team, All-Northeast 10 Conference pick, netted a team-best 62 goals and a team-high 80 points with a .456 shot accuracy rate... Former Attleboro High Bombardier soccer standout Steve Rodrigues, who has served as an assistant coach with the boys' varsity team and also as a coach with the BAYS teams, is the new AHS girls' soccer coach... The Union College women's lacrosse team (13-3), runner-up for the Liberty League title at 13-3, is NCAA Division III Tournament bound thanks to the Cuozzo sisters, via King Philip High. Senior midfielder Caitlin Cuozzo is Union's fourth-leading scorer with 20 goals and 13 assists and a .465 shot percentage, while sophomore midfielder Allie Cuozzo is the No. 5 scorer with 24 goals, eight assists and a .511 shot percentage... At the Atlantic-10 Conference Championship Track Meet at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, University of Rhode Island junior TyLynn Graham, via North Attleboro High, won the high jump (5-5), took fourth in the 100 hurdles (15.25), seventh in the triple jump (36-11) and 12th in the long jump. Another ex-Rocketeer representing Rhody, senior captain Caitlin Hurley finished eighth in the 100 (12.41)... Also at the A-10 Meet, former Foxboro High Warrior Brian Miller, a sophomore at UMass-Amherst, took fourth in the high jump (6-21/2) and was a member of the fourth place 4x100 relay team, while freshman Kevin Spieler, via Attleboro High, captured eighth place with the discus (135-feet). Another former Foxboro flash, Holly Heinricher, a Minuteman sophomore, was a member of the third place 4x100 relay team... Former Attleboro High pitcher Craig McBride hurled the Worcester State baseball team to a 6-1 win over top-seeded Westfield State in the semifinals of the MASCAC Tournament, the ex-Bombardier allowing six hits over 62/3 innings with four strikeouts. Worcester State (23-16) then notched its ninth-straight win, beating Westfield again in the title game to advance to the NCAA Division III Regional Tournament. And former Mansfield High baseball standout Jim Abreau, the first baseman for Fitchburg State, was a second team All-MASCAC selection, batting .398 with 29 RBI... "Last year, he had a lot of line drive outs, this year, he's very patient and doesn't swing a bad pitches," explained AHS baseball coach Matt Bosh of senior catcher James Kelly, who has an on-base percentage of nearly 700 thus far batting in the second spot of the Bombardier order... Former Norton High softball star Karissa Bettencourt, a junior outfielder at Southern New Hampshire College, was named to the Northeast-10 Conference all-star team, having a .323 batting average, a team-best 43 hits (11 for extra bases) along with 11 RBI and just 11 strikeouts to go opposite 15 walks... At the Northeast-10 Conference's Championship Track Meet, former Mansfield High Hornet Terry Young had a great day in representing UMass-Lowell, taking second in the high (6-2) and long (21-9) jumps, third in the triple jump (44-91/2) and was a member of the second place 4x100 relay team. Also for UMass-Lowell, North Attleboro's Jenna Banks was a member of the second place 4x800 relay team, Mansfield's Katie Johnson took seventh with the discus (33-101/2) and Mansfield's Courtney Lincoln was fifth in the high (4-11) and long (16-21/2) jumps and sixth in the 100 (16.0)... Former Attleboro High tennis swatter Dave Gogoi, a senior at UMass-Dartmouth, played at the No. 1 singles (2-10) and at No. 2 doubles (2-8) spots for the Corsairs... Seekonk High sophomore John Gregorek rewrote the MSTCA Freshman-Sophomore Small School Meet record in the two mile run by some 40 seconds, clocking a 9:45. In addition, Warrior teammate sophomore Joe Teixeira captured the javelin (145-4), Casey O'Brien was second in the 200 meters (23.4) and third in the long jump (19-11/2)... Steph McNamara, the former North Attleboro High distance runner now at Tufts, placed fifth in the 1500m at the NESCAC championship at Hamilton College at 4:38 and qualified for the New England Meet at New Hampshire. Her sister, Jen McNamara, a junior and captain-elect of the Marist College women's spring track team, took sixth 6th in the 100m dash and was a member of the third place 4x100 relay team at the MAAC championship meet... Another ex-Rocketeer, Meg Brunell spanked an RBI-single to drive in the game-winning run for Western Connecticut State College in a 2-0 win over Kean (N.J.) College in the NCAA Division III Regional softball tournament Thursday... Former Bishop Feehan High pitcher Paul Keenan of Attleboro, a sophomore with the Guilford (N.C.) College baseball team posted a 3-3 record in 12 games... Attleboro's Sheila McKenna and her High Fives hoop team won three games to win the Mass. Senior Games 65 and over women's basketball tournament gold medal, qualifying for the National Senior Games at Stanford University. Over the past two months, the High Fives had posted a 15-1 record in four tournaments. Also at the Mass. Senior Games, North Attleboro's Barbara Cherecwich played for the Mass.
