Tri-County Voke names top students

FRANKLIN - Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School has announced the two top-ranked students in the Class of 2008.

They are Morgan Lowey of Medway, a medical careers student, who has been named class valedictorian, and Keith Robinson of Wrentham, a carpentry and cabinet making student, who has been selected class salutatorian.

Lowey recently received The Massachusetts Superintendents Certificate of Academic Excellence, the Outstanding Vocational Technical Student Award, and was a 2007 SkillsUSA state-level bronze medalist.

Lowey has also won numerous Tri-County school service and leadership awards, the Best in Shop Award for medical careers, the Cougar Culture Award for school spirit, and a variety of academic honors for top performance in English, history, math, Spanish, and science classes.

A member of the student council and the National Honor Society, Lowey is employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Medway Country Manor in Medway and is fully trained in first aid and CPR. She has served as a peer mentor at the Tri-County Homework Center and a class demonstrator at the Franklin School for Performing Arts in Franklin, and has volunteered at the Greater Boston Food Bank and Rosie's Place in Boston.

Robinson is an honor roll student with perfect attendance since 2005. He was the recipient of the 2007 Tri-County Social Studies Award.

Active in Tri-County sports since 2005, Robinson is a member of the varsity football and baseball teams. He received the Most Improved Player Award for football in 2007 and served as the captain of the varsity football team during the 2007 season.

Robinson is currently employed as a hardware installer at Scandia Kitchens in Bellingham, where his responsibilities range from the actual installation of hardware, drawers and cabinet doors, to touch-up kits and polishing finished cabinets. He has also served as a volunteer for the Wrentham Youth Baseball and Softball Association and at Sunset Acres Retirement Home in Plainville.
