NORTON - The Attleboro/Norton YMCA has announced the 2008 summer season at the Norton Outdoor Center.

The 80-acre center houses Camp Finberg, an eight-lane outdoor pool, basketball courts, hiking trails, activity fields, picnic areas, a pavilion, showers and a changing area.

Cookouts are planned for every Friday night throughout the summer.

A schedule of summer special eEvents will be available soon and will include a Summer Drive-in Movie Night as well as an Olde Thyme Carnival.

The facility is open to families and individuals who purchase a summer pass. Passes are available at any Attleboro/Norton YMCA Welcome Center. The summer 2008 dates and hours are:

Preseason: May 31 to June 22, Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Summer Season: June 23 to Aug. 29, Monday to Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

An open house is scheduled for Saturday, May 17 and 31, 9 a.m. to noon.

A Summer Splash Party is scheduled for Saturday, June 14, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Summer Splash Party will allow families to celebrate the start of summer and experience the Norton Outdoor Center for a few hours. Admission is free. Families are encouraged to swim, shoot hoops, and walk around the Norton Outdoor Center. There will also be a raffle for a family summer pass to the Norton Outdoor Center. YMCA officials will be on hand to provide more information on the facility and the programs that will take place at the facility.
