BOYS' TRACK: AHS grabs piece of OCL crown

ATTLEBORO - The Attleboro High boys' spring track team performed at its season's best, securing an 83-53 victory over Bridgewater-Raynham Tuesday at Tozier-Cassidy Field and securing at least a share of the Old Colony League dual meet championship.

Mac Borgellas (100 hurdles, triple jump) won two events for the Bombardiers (4-3, 3-0), but strong performances from Tony Vincent and Joe Roy enabled the Bombardiers to move ahead of the Trojans.

Vincent won the javelin and took second in the discus, while Roy won the 300 hurdles and took second in both the high jump and 100 hurdles.

The Bombardiers' sweep of the 100 hurdles with Borgellas, Roy and third-place finisher Mac Belin and the 1-2 finish by Roy and Belin in the 300 hurdles were key events.

In addition, freshman Don Caouette uncorked shot put throw of 43-6 for second place.

(5-2) received a pair of first-place finishes from Joe Teixeira (shot put, javelin) as well as some strong performances from Casey O'Brien and the distance runners to nip Wareham 70-66 in a South Coast Conference meet. Seekonk (5-2) went 1-3 in the two-mile run with Sam Martin and Nate Larrimer and then went 1-2 in the mile run with Sam Spencer (4:50) and Matt Fisk (4:55) to take the lead. Casey O'Brien sparkled with a trio of second place finishes, in the 100 (11.2), long jump (18-21/2) and triple jump (37-11).

Stephan Neville of remained undefeated, posting wins in the 100 and 200 meters, as his team improved to 4-3 with a 72-64 win over Canton at home. Junior Dillon Myers was triple winner for Foxboro, capturing the 300 meter hurdles, the long and triple jumps. After battling injuries for most of the season, Foxboro's Tyler Lewis came up with a big performance, winning the 400 meters in 52.8. The Warriors will close out the dual meet season against Oliver Ames at home on Thursday.

Also in the Hockomock League, wrapped up the regular season in style with a 72-63 verdict over Sharon. The Warriors (2-6) had first-place distances in all six of the field events and outscored the Eagles 27-1 in the throwing events, including sweeps in the javelin and discus. Brian Toney won the 300 hurdles (43.4), triple jump (40-10) and long jump (20-0) while. Zack Cox high jumped 5-6 and took a third in the 100 while sophomore James Killion had a PR 2:07.9 for third in the 800.
