How sweet it is in Attleboro!

ATTLEBORO - It was one heck of a scoop.
Hearing that they were the second-prize winners in the annual Ice Cream World competition, Friendly's fountain workers Sarita Mohanty and David Delude were, well, like little kids who got a sundae with a cherry on top.
"There are few people that can say they are one of the best of the best," Delude said. "And I'm excited to be one of them."
Each year for the past seven years, Friendly's has set out to find their very own ice cream experts with competitions that span the state's restaurants.
After taking the (ice cream) cake at the restaurant and district levels, Mohanty and Delude competed in Wilbraham for the finals.
Teams prepared eight creations and were judged on product accuracy, eye appeal and their uniform appearance.
The teams also had to create their own sundae or fountain beverage which was judged on name, creativity, marketability and taste. "The competition was awesome," Mohanty said. "I was so excited to be there representing Attleboro."
Judges included several Friendly's corporate employees, including John Bowie, special vice president of company operations.
"We're very proud of both Sarita and David, and are excited to have named them among the 'best of the best' fountain workers," Bowie said. "At Friendly's, we're dedicated to making sure our guests thoroughly enjoy their food, service and ice cream treats."
If you want to visit Mohanty and Delude, and see if they make your Friendly's visit a little sweeter, the two work at the Friendly's at 10 Washington St. (Route 1) in South Attleboro. |
