PLAINVILLE - A man Tuesday pleaded innocent in Dedham Superior Court to murdering his aunt and stuffing her body in a closet in the Plainville apartment where he was staying with the woman.
Randall Carpeno Jr. was ordered held without bail by Judge Janet Sanders, said David Traub, spokesman for Norfolk County District Attorney William Keating.
Carpeno, 41, of Texas is accused of murdering his aunt, April Mackie, the first murder in Plainville in nearly 20 years.
Acting on a tip from Texas, Plainville police on March 23 came across the body of Mackie, 56, in the closet of her apartment in Village Green, a 399-unit complex off Messenger Street (Route 106).
Police said the former North Attleboro resident, who was blind, had multiple stab wounds.
Carpeno has a lengthy criminal record in Massachusetts, including incidents of assault and battery. He faces a July 22 pre-trial conference.
