Mansfield police arrest 74 youths at concerts

MANSFIELD - Police say they arrested 74 teenagers and young adults during the Summer Jam and Aerosmith concerts at the Comcast Center, most for unlawful possession of alcohol and public intoxication.

Sixteen people were arrested during Tuesday night's Aerosmith concert, half of those taken into custody for public intoxication, police said. Four were arrested for unlawful possession of alcohol.

At the all-day Summer Jam concert Sunday, 58 people were taken into custody, including 14 teenagers for unlawful possession of alcohol with one as young as 15, according to Police Chief Arthur O'Neill, who has railed against underage drinking at the venue.

Thirty-four teenagers and young adults were taken into custody as public intoxicants, including two 15-year-olds and four 16-year-olds, O'Neill said.

Some have already been arraigned in Taunton District Court and others are scheduled to be arraigned later this week.
