BOURNE - Sophomore Ryan Schuster came through with a 5-over-par round of 77 and, along with senior Jon Mattos, the pair of Norton High Lancers advanced to the MIAA Division 3 State Championship Golf Tournament Monday in Great Barrington.

"That's quite an accomplishment for a sophomore," said Norton High coach Ryan Riley, whose Lancers finished in a tie for fourth place overall and missed out on qualifying for the Division 3 state tournament as a result of matching cards.

Both Norton and Pembroke tied for fourth place with team scores of 323. To determine which would join Tri-Valley League members Holliston, Hopkinton and Medfield in Western Massachusetts, the "card off" went to the No. 2 players.

Schuster came through with an eagle on the par-5 No. 16 hole, hitting a driver and 4-iron onto the green, then sinking a 20-foot putt. Matos, a senior, produced a 7-over-par round of 79 and also will continue playing.

**At the Easton CC, DIGHTON-REHOBOTH failed to advance out of the field assembled for the Division 2 "Cape Cod" region qualifying tournament. Senior Rich Salve was the Falcons' low scorer with an 83. Sandwich and Duxbury were the top two teams, while Dennis-Yarmouth's Josh Moore shot a 1-under-par round of 70 to capture medalist honors.

** Also at the Dennis Highlands CC on Cape Cod in the Division 2 "Cape Cod" regional qualifier, SEEKONK High did not have one player break 80, finishing eighth overall. Lucas Preston was the low Warrior with an 84.

**Also at the Division 3 "South" regional tournament, FOXBORO finished eighth with a team score of 328 among the 21 participating schools. Tim Grossman was the Warrior medalist during the round, shooting a 6-over-par round of 78 to be among the nine individuals to qualify for the MIAA State Tournament.
