Medifeld’s Wesley Cheung (10) and gets a good grip on Feehan’s Todd Lunter (21).
ATTLEBORO - The Bishop Feehan High boys' soccer team, which had lost just once through its first 17 matches of the regular season, heads into the MIAA Division 2-South Sectional Tournament with a loss, the Shamrocks' second, a 3-0 decision to Medfield Wednesday in a non-league match.
The Blue Wave, perennial powers in the Tri-Valley League, took the lead at 11:49 on a short shot in the box by Dan Richman and then extended its lead right before halftime, Erik Lindgren deflecting a cross off the left wing in the 38th minute past Feehan goalie Nick Hetlund. Medfield added a second-half goal in the 70th minute.
"They're a very skilled team, they put some great touches on the ball," said Bishop Feehan coach Mike Pariseau, whose Shamrocks (9-2-7) could very well meet Medfield again in the first round of the tournament - seedings and pairings to be determined by the MIAA today.
The Shamrocks created a half-dozen shots, but few true scoring chances. "We didn't have a good afternoon," added Pariseau. "I thought that we'd have more intensity, especially since there's a good chance that we'll see them in the first round."
