NORTH ATTLEBORO - The winter farmers and artisan food producers market will not be held this year after all.
Organizer David Scanlan announced Friday that he would be unable to conduct the winter market at the Masonic Lodge as originally planned because of issues with building regulations.
"I found out in the past few days that the market was required to comply with certain regulations that I was unaware of. I worked with the building commissioner and the landlord to find a solution; however it was not financially feasible for me to pursue the market at this time," he said.
"I have only praise for the building commissioner and his staff," he said. "They were willing to go above and beyond to guide me in resolving the issues I faced. The fault here is squarely on my shoulders for not doing my homework and being more aware of the process."
There will be one final farmer's market from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday in front of Community School.
"I thought I would give the vendors who wanted to do the winter market the opportunity to market at least one day in North Attleboro," Scanlan said. "Maybe they will want to participate in next summer's market.
"Plus, how often do you get a 60-plus degree day in November?"
