Driver faces multiple charges in alleged hit-and-run crash
NORTON - A repeat drunken driver charged with a 2007 hit-and-run accident that killed a man riding home on a bicycle was scheduled to go to trial on Monday.
Timothy Corbin, 41, of Northampton, faces nine charges in New Bedford Superior Court, including manslaughter, driving under the influence of alcohol, vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of property damage. He has pleaded innocent.
Killed in the July 19, 2007, accident on Route 123 near Power Street was 48-year-old Bryan Nadeau, a cook at Norton Country Club who lived at the North Cottage substance abuse center.
Nadeau, a former Attleboro resident and father of two daughters, was riding home after work when he was fatally struck around 10 p.m.
Corbin was arrested about an hour later on Route 140 in Franklin.
Police allege Corbin was driving a Ford Econoline van stolen from Quality Coach Van Sales on Old Colony Road moments before the accident occurred.
He pleaded guilty to a fifth or subsequent offense drunken driving charge stemming from the motor vehicle stop in Franklin and is currently serving a prison sentence.
